French
At Rocklands School, our approach to Modern Foreign Languages, particularly French, prioritises accessibility, inclusion, and meaningful engagement. We adapt teaching strategies to individual needs through differentiated instruction, visual supports, and multi-sensory activities, ensuring every learner can participate fully.
Our curriculum focuses on functional language skills that promote independence, cultural awareness, and social interaction. To enhance understanding and retention, we embed technology, repetition, and real-life contexts. By fostering confidence and enjoyment in language learning, we aim to provide pupils with opportunities to develop communication skills and a sense of global citizenship.
Celebrating Languages at Rocklands
In the Autumn term, Rocklands hosted a whole-school theme day dedicated to French language and culture. The objectives were to:
Promote cultural awareness and appreciation of diversity.
Develop functional language skills through interactive, accessible activities.
Foster confidence, social interaction, and enjoyment in language learning.
This immersive experience helped pupils connect language learning with real-world contexts while celebrating the richness of global cultures.
