Music at Rocklands is a multisensory art. This subject rarely stands alone and is taught through specialist teachers and a cross-curricular approach. Children discover that rhythm and beat are not only in music but in our speech, in our movements and in our bodies.We demonstrate that sound is made by our voices, heard in our music and felt in its vibrations. Children observe song is in their voice, which is silently heard in their mind and expressed through their words. We expose our children to different types of music that can be heard, model how it can be felt, and discuss how it can touch our emotions. We believe that music can make us feel what we cannot express yet can help us express what we cannot say making this subject is imperative and accessible to all.
