Tapestry

Rocklands has devised our own assessment tool by writing bespoke frameworks for all areas of our curriculum through the digital platform Tapestry. Statements are taken and broken down into small steps of progression from a variety of sources including birth to five and the National Curriculum.

The Engagement Model

At Rockland’s School, we have adapted the Engagement Model to meet the needs of our children. This assessment tool supports us to assess and review the needs of our children working below the level of the National Curriculum. The model has 5 areas: exploration, realisation, anticipation, persistence and initiation. Engagement helps us reflect on how well our bespoke curriculum is supporting progress these areas. It does not replace our assessment tracked through our bespoke frameworks on Tapestry but adds value by helping us assess pupils’ progress from a different angle.

Current Picture

Data is analysed termly and reported to the LAC. The relevant data is reported to the DfE annually.

Where it is appropriate for our children to complete statutory testing, arrangements are made to make these accessible. Where appropriate, we complete the phonics screening at the end of year 1 and year 2, the Multiplication Check at the end of year 4 and any KS2 statutory assessments that could be accessed.

All evidence suggests the following:

• Children make strong progress from their starting point.
• Evidence shows that pupils are well prepared for their next stages of education.
• Pupils are secure in the necessary foundational knowledge required in reading, spelling, handwriting and number facts.
