As chair of the Local Advisory Committee (LAC) for Rocklands School I would like to warmly welcome you to the governance page. It has been an absolute pleasure for me to be a governor at Rocklands for 5 years now, taking over as Chair of the LAC 2 years ago.
The LAC is made up of a group of people from a range of backgrounds and professions, including parents, school staff and the headteacher. We aim to support the senior leadership team at Rocklands by being a “critical friend” and providing strategic oversight of the school. We also aim to develop links with and listen to the wider school community, particularly parents, carers and other family members.
We meet twice each term, once as committees; Leadership and Management and Teaching, Learning and Welbeing and once as a full LAC. We also encourage governors to take on a link governor role, visiting school and looking in detail at various aspects of school life.
Each of the governors is committed to supporting the school’s vision: Believe, Belong, Become. To recognise each pupil as a unique and special individual, to meet their needs, ensuring that each pupil feels valued, thrives and grows. Rocklands is truly a very special place to be a pupil, a member of staff or a governor.
If you would like to explore the possibility of becoming a governor at Rocklands, please contact either myself at Heidi.Mosedale@rocklands.mhat.org.uk or Jane Mackin, our Headteacher at Jane.mackin@rocklands.mhat.org.uk

I was also a governor at Saxon Hill Academy in Lichfield for 3 years. Saxon Hill is part of the Shaw Education Trust. I resigned as a governor at Saxon Hill when I became chair of governors at Rocklands to give me more time to dedicate to this role.
I applied to be a governor because I have a keen interest in children and education. After many years of working and raising my own family I now have some free time and hope I can contribute something useful.
During my working life I was a corporate solicitor and partner in a Birmingham law firm for many years, specialising in management buy outs, share and asset purchases and sales for owner managers and private equity.
I live in a small village just outside Lichfield. I was brought up and educated in Lichfield so I know the area well. Being so close allows me to visit school regularly, to get to know the children, staff and parents and I think this helps me to be a better governor.
My other interests include distance running (probably better described as jogging these days!), golf, reading and gardening. We have 4 children and 4 grandchildren who keep me busy. We also run a small property business.
