Our Vision
“Belong, Believe, Become”
To create a happy, caring, safe and stimulating learning environment that places children at the centre of all our teaching and the needs of each child at the heart of everything we do.
Rocklands School Rule – ‘Take Care’
Our Aims
To create a welcoming, friendly and happy environment, where children feel safe and secure; a place where good behaviour is expected and rewarded and where children enjoy coming.
To ensure all children have access to an engaging, relevant and varied curriculum that will enable them to make progress in all aspects of their development; including communication, life and social skills, spiritual, moral and social understanding.
To have high expectations of all children and provide high quality, challenging, imaginative teaching, with learning opportunities offered through first-hand experience, practical activities, exploration, investigation and play.
To enrich and enhance the curriculum through visits, visitors and use of the outdoor environment.
Safeguarding Statement
Rocklands School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
We have a number of policies and procedures in place that contribute to our safeguarding commitment, including our Safeguarding Policy which can be viewed in the Policies section of our website.
Sometimes we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a child’s welfare. We will ensure that our concerns about our pupils are discussed with his/her parents/carers first unless we have reason to believe that such a move would be contrary to the child’s welfare.
We actively support the Government’s Prevent Agenda to counter radicalism and extremism. The aim of ‘Prevent’ is to stop people becoming or supporting terrorists and to do this by challenging ideologies, protecting vulnerable individuals and supporting institutions, such as schools. Further information for schools and childcare providers can be found here.
Our Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) is Nikki Grigorjevs (our FSW), our DDSLs are Jane Mackin (Headteacher) and Kat Adams (Deputy Headteacher). Mrs Jean Powell is our Child Protection and Looked After Children link Governor and Louise Mitchell is the Designated Teacher for Looked After Children.
