School Council

Welcome to Our School Council!

We are proud to introduce you to our new School Council where “We turn ideas into a reality.”

At Rocklands, we believe that all children, regardless of their needs, should have the opportunity to share their thoughts and ideas, make choices, and help shape our school and the community. Together, we’re building a school where everyone belongs, believes, and becomes.

A new School Council is elected each year and is ran by Nikki Grigorjevs, supported by both Jane and Kat.

It is made up of enthusiastic representatives, who have been nominated by their peers, from across both the semi and formal departments including both SEMH units.

The School Council aims to meet regularly to:

  • Share children’s views and suggestions
  • Help improve school life for everyone
  • Plan exciting events and fundraising activities
  • Discuss the curriculum offer including the wider curriculum and clubs

We use a range of communication methods to promote inclusivity to ensure children feel valued and heard in whichever form of communication chosen; every idea is valued.

We enjoy sharing our ideas and meeting new friends from other schools through The Voice Project, where we have an input on new initiatives for schools in Staffordshire.

The School Council provides feedback to Senior Leaders and the Headteacher to keep them informed of their plans and they also run a Tuck Shop each week, where they learn about selling, stocking, budgeting, and money handling.
